Race Weekend: Pictures and Videos

We were watched over this weekend! We had a beautiful day, starting off with a light rain, great company and 48 teams trying to be the champions of their divisions. We raced in heats of 4 boats with 5 and 6 in the finals. I must say I was very proud of being a Leatherneck Warrior for many reasons. One being allowed to be on the water with some of my favorite friends who work hard every practice and it shows everytime we compete at the many different locations. Two, you always get people watching you, like doing the paddle salute and one of the new teams wanting the company steer to teach them how to do it while waiting for other boats to join them at the starting line. The steer didn't really know how we do it but tried it once and he said when they touched paddles almost rolled them over! He said it scared the heck out of him and really scared them!! They didn't want to learn it anymore! Proud of our mixed team who never saw defeat for the day. And our women's team who were beaten by the same team in the first two races by a nose. Coming back in the finals with a well adjusted plan winning the finals by three seats with their fastest time of the day, oviously shocking the previous winner to take the gold! They looked fantastic in accomplishing it! If you are going to win one, the finals are the one to win! So proud of them you all doing the new plan with such percision! Accomplishing two Gold medals, all getting at least one and some two! Again, we were lead by four of the best strokes in the business in Robin, Laraine, Leslee and Kim,of course our always able Renie drumming and 15 of our very deserving paddlers, Ken and Tenn in seat two mixed boat,Joe H. and Paul in three, Earl and Don B. in four and Alison and three from the women's boat filling in for an empty seat. AND the women's boat! Robin and Laraine in stroke,Carol and Karen M. in two, Karen G. and Kathy R. in three, Muriel and Diane in four and Betty and Debi P in five! ALL Gold medal winners! Again, thanks to Leslee for our great places to eat!
